UPPCC Announces Newest Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) & Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) Designees
July 24, 2013 - The Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) is pleased to announce that 340 individuals successfully completed the spring 2013 UPPCC certification examinations administered May 6-18, 2013. The coveted Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) and Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) credentials, recognized throughout the public procurement profession, demonstrate an individual's comprehensive knowledge of public procurement.
Of these 340 newly certified individuals, a total of 240 earned the CPPB certification while 100 earned the CPPO certification. This newest class of professionals brings the total number certified for CPPB and CPPO to 9,325 and 2,309 respectively.
Obtaining either UPPCC certification requires the candidate to demonstrate through an application process, that they meet specific requisites; including formal education, procurement related coursework/training and public procurement employment experience. A comprehensive written examination (specific to each certification) is required to confirm the candidate's mastery of a variety of public procurement concepts found in the UPPCC Body of Knowledge. The next and final examinations for both CPPO and CPPB under the current UPPCC Body of Knowledge are scheduled for October 14-26, 2013. Although the on-time deadline to submit an application has passed for this specific exam opportunity, the UPPCC will continue to accept applications through the late deadline of July 29 with a $50 late fee.
